Howden Re appointed five new hires to its cyber reinsurance team, expanding its US presence and strengthening actuarial, broking, account management, and analytics capabilities.
The appointments reflect rising global client demand for Howden Re’s cyber reinsurance services.
They also create a dedicated US cyber reinsurance resource as the firm grows its client base in one of the world’s largest cyber insurance markets.
Howden Re is the reinsurance, capital markets, and strategic advisory arm of Howden, the global insurance intermediary group.
- Michael Giuliano joins as director on the cyber reinsurance team. Based in New York, he will work with the cyber and US casualty teams to build Howden Re’s cyber offering in the US market. Giuliano joins from McGill and Partners, where he was a partner focused on cyber insurance and reinsurance portfolio solutions for complex clients.
- Ram Ramakrishnan joins as director and will lead the cyber actuarial function. His role strengthens the team’s actuarial base and supports Howden Re’s modelling and threat intelligence work. He joins from Lockton Re, where he was a senior actuary leading analytics for the cyber reinsurance practice, with additional work across casualty and aviation.
- Lewis Birch joins as associate director on the broking side of the cyber team. He comes from Aon and will work with clients and markets on reinsurance solutions.
- Georgia Surridge joins as associate director and will lead account management within the cyber team. She previously worked as a senior account manager in Aon’s Japan team.
- Haakon Pedersen joins the analytics team as an associate. He comes from Chaucer, where he was a senior analyst in exposure management across direct and reinsurance business.
According to Beinsure, the hires show how cyber reinsurance is moving toward deeper technical segmentation.
Buyers want capacity, but they also want better views of accumulation risk, ransomware severity, cloud dependency, systemic exposure, and threat activity. The old broad-brush cyber model isn’t enough.
Luke Foord-Kelcey, managing director and global head of cyber at Howden Re, said the appointments respond directly to client demand. He said the business is growing quickly, with clients seeking cyber reinsurance expertise that combines market knowledge and analytics.
Foord-Kelcey said bringing Giuliano, Ramakrishnan, Birch, Surridge, and Pedersen into the team will deepen Howden Re’s offering and support a fast-growing client base on both sides of the Atlantic.
