MS Reinsurance, a global reinsurer domiciled in Switzerland with underwriting offices in Zurich, Bermuda, Miami, and New York, has appointed Julien Mollinier as Chief Underwriting Officer, Global Speciality Lines. He will succeed Jörg Bruniecki, who became Chief Underwriting Officer of MS Re earlier in 2026.
Mollinier has more than 20 years of insurance and reinsurance experience. He previously held senior positions at Aspen Re and most recently served as President, EMEA, at TransRe.
His background includes Financial Risks as well as broader property and casualty and speciality reinsurance. Mollinier will lead MS Re’s Global Speciality team and oversee the development of the business.
He will be based in Zurich and is expected to start in early 2027. Bruniecki said Mollinier brings both technical expertise and senior market experience to the role.
MS Re also appointed Joscelin Burrer as Head of Financial Risks. Burrer will report to Mollinier and will remain based in New York.
Burrer joined MS Re earlier in 2026 and has served as interim Head of Financial Risks since Paul Murphy left the company in April. He has more than 25 years of experience across reinsurance and property and casualty markets.
His previous roles include Head of Credit and Surety at Markel Global Reinsurance. MS Re said Burrer has already been involved in leading the Financial Risks business during his interim appointment.
The reinsurer has also named Pius Leupi as Lead Underwriter, Financial Risks. Leupi will be based in Zurich and will work with Burrer and the wider Financial Risks team.
Leupi most recently served as Head of Credit and Surety, EMEA & APAC, at Swiss Re. His appointment adds further credit and surety experience to MS Re’s Financial Risks operation.
“Julien brings a strong blend of strategic leadership, as well as technical and broad market experience,” Bruniecki said. He added that MS Re expects Mollinier to support the continued development of Global Speciality Lines.
Bruniecki also said Burrer has made a strong contribution since joining the company. He said Burrer, Leupi and the existing team will continue developing MS Re’s position in the Financial Risks market.
