David Duong serves as the Head of Research at Coinbase, where he leads the firm’s cryptocurrency research for institutional clients. Based in New York, he focuses on delivering market insights that analyze crypto-related themes, build quantitative models, and assess tokenomics across various protocols. His work integrates macroeconomic trends with on-chain data to inform investment decisions within the digital asset space.

Before joining Coinbase in late 2021, David held the position of Head of Latin America FX Strategy and Research at HSBC. There, he managed research coverage for key markets including Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, and Argentina, collaborating with regional economics teams to provide institutional and corporate clients with strategic insights. His background spans across multiple major financial institutions. At Santander, he worked as Senior LatAm Rates Strategist, focusing on developing research and trade ideas for Latin American markets. Prior to that, he was a macro strategist at Deutsche Bank, where he covered emerging market sovereign debt, FX, and rates, building models for asset performance and volatility instruments.

David holds an MSc from the London School of Economics and graduated magna cum laude from Colgate University with a degree in Computer Science and Political Science. He is a CFA charterholder since 2016 and also holds a FINRA Series 63 license. With nearly two decades of experience in financial markets and a strong quantitative skill set, he brings a data-driven approach to analyzing crypto markets.
