Ramón Martínez Carrera, CEO of Active Re
Ramon Martinez Carrera is a distinguished executive in the insurance and reinsurance industry with over four decades of experience in economic and mathematical modeling, financial analysis, strategic management, and financial services. He currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and Director of Active Capital Reinsurance, Ltd., a position he has held since 2021, after previously serving as Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice President.
Throughout his career, Ramon has built extensive expertise in insurance and reinsurance, asset management, financial investments, corporate strategy, and risk management. His professional journey has included senior leadership roles in international insurance organizations, consulting firms, and financial institutions across Latin America and Europe. He has also served as a Director of Heath Acia Limited, Heath de Cuba S.A., and the North of England Protecting and Indemnity Association, contributing to corporate governance and investment oversight.
Before joining Active Capital Reinsurance, Ramon worked as a Senior Consultant with SIA S.p.A., providing strategic advisory services to insurance organizations. His earlier career focused on structured export financing, financial advisory, compliance, internal control assessment, macroeconomic modeling, statistical research, and econometrics.
Ramon holds a Ph.D. in Mathematical Economics from the Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics (MESI) and a degree in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Havana. His strong academic foundation has supported a career dedicated to combining analytical excellence with strategic business leadership.
