Aon appoints former AARP CEO Jo Ann Jenkins to Board of Directors

Aon announced that Jo Ann Jenkins will join its Board of Directors effective August 15, 2025. Jenkins brings decades of leadership across nonprofit, public, and corporate sectors, with a track record of advancing large-scale organizations through digital strategy, policy influence, and workforce transformation.

Jo Ann’s leadership across mission-driven institutions and her experience navigating public policy will add important perspective to our board. Her expertise aligns with our focus on delivering more value for clients, colleagues, and shareholders.

Jenkins most recently served as CEO of AARP, where she guided the organization through a shift toward digital service delivery and built out its AgeTech innovation platform.

During her tenure, she prioritized workforce diversity across age groups, advocated for access to healthcare and affordable medication, and protected key social programs such as Social Security and Medicare.

Her leadership roles at AARP included Chief Operating Officer and President of AARP Foundation. She previously held senior positions at the Library of Congress and multiple U.S. federal departments, including Transportation, Agriculture, and Housing and Urban Development.

Jenkins currently serves on the boards of General Mills and Avnet.

She has also contributed to the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Council on Underserved Communities and Stanford School of Medicine’s Board of Fellows.

Fortune twice listed her among the “World’s 50 Greatest Leaders,” and she authored the bestselling book Disrupt Aging.

Jenkins began her career with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, later moving to the US. Department of Transportation, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Library of Congress, where she served as Chief Operating Officer.

In addition to receiving a diverse range of awards, Jo Ann Jenkins has held a variety of board and advisory positions including The Wall Street Journal CEO Council, Kennedy Center National Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors, Stanford School of Medicine Board of Fellows, U.S. Small Business Administration Council on Underserved Communities, and Caring for Military Families.

After earning her Bachelor of Science degree from Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL, she graduated from the Stanford Graduate School of Business Executive Program. Jenkins also holds an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from both Spring Hill College and Washington College.
