Georgia authorities accuse Dalton insurance agent Lucy Margarita Suarez of taking thousands of dollars from customers who thought they had workers’ compensation coverage.
Suarez, 33, faces several felony charges, according to the Georgia State Board of Workers’ Compensation. The counts include five insurance fraud charges and one forgery charge.
Investigators say Suarez owned and operated EliteOne Solutions on East Morris Street in Dalton. Customers paid her for workers’ compensation insurance, officials said, but she kept the premiums instead of placing coverage.
The agency said its investigation found Suarez issued fraudulent certificates of insurance to clients. Those documents made business owners and contractors believe they had valid coverage.
According to investigators, the alleged scheme cost victims thousands of dollars. For small contractors, that kind of gap isn’t paperwork trouble – it’s a serious exposure.
Suarez was arrested on April 29 in Miami and transported to the Whitfield County Jail.
Officials say the case remains active and more victims could come forward. The agency said it expects additional charges as investigators continue reviewing the matter.
Authorities asked anyone in Dalton or Whitfield County who bought workers’ compensation insurance through EliteOne Solutions to contact investigators.
