Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. said its U.S. wholesale brokerage, binding authority and programs division, Risk Placement Services, Inc., acquired Med James, Inc., an Overland Park, Kansas-based managing general agency and wholesale insurance broker. The companies did not disclose transaction terms.
Med James serves retail agents through MGA and wholesale brokerage services. Pam Donahue and the Med James team will continue working from their current location. They will report to Jacey Norberg, Vice President, North Central Region, at RPS.
J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr., Chairman and CEO of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., said Med James has built a strong position in wholesale insurance and expands RPS’s regional capabilities. He also welcomed the Med James team to Gallagher’s wider professional network.
The deal adds another regional wholesale platform to RPS, Gallagher’s U.S. division focused on wholesale brokerage, binding authority and programs business.
For retail agents, the acquisition keeps the existing Med James team in place while moving the firm under Gallagher’s larger distribution structure.
Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. operates as a global insurance brokerage, risk management and consulting services firm.
