Slovenian insurers reported GWP up by 5.1% y-o-y in 1Q2022, to EUR 762.2 million. The trend setter was the non-life segment which provided for about 93% of the y-o-y additional premiums volume.
According to XPRIMM, paid claims went up by about 12,6%, to EUR 453.7 million, mostly driven by the health insurance line.
On the non-life insurance side, property insurance – in particular the “damages to property” LoB -, and the motor insurance lines – especially the Motor Hull one -, provided for the largest contributions to the GWP increase.
Life insurance saw, overall, an 1.3% increase in premiums, to EUR 197.6 million. In fact, the Unit-Linked products class recorded a 11.26% growth in premiums, to EUR 78.6 million, but also saw a 21.6% increase in indemnities.
Slovenia’s largest insurers in terms of GWP were Zavarovalnica TRIGLAV with a 29.2% market share (EUR 222.45 million), followed by Zavarovalnica Sava (18.34% market share, EUR 139.8 million) and Generali zavarovalnica (16.3% market share, EUR 124.25 million).
