Vertafore launched the Velocity AI Submission Processing Agent, a new tool built to help MGAs move submissions into underwriting review faster. The Denver-based insurtech provider introduced the product, as part of its Velocity AI Platform.

The agent sits inside Vertafore’s MGA workflows and targets one of the slowest parts of underwriting: submission intake.

For many MGA and underwriting teams, that first step still means reading emails, opening PDFs, checking spreadsheets, extracting details by hand, entering data into systems and chasing brokers for missing information.

According to Beinsure, Vertafore built the Submission Processing Agent to handle unstructured intake rather than force brokers and agents into fixed templates. The system reads emails, PDFs, spreadsheets and supporting files, then pulls relevant details into organised data for underwriting review.

MGAs receive business in different formats, through different channels and often with incomplete documentation. Underwriters then spend time cleaning up the file before they even assess risk.

Dan Rieden, executive vice president of workers’ compensation at XPT Specialty, said submissions historically required rigid templates, which do not match how business arrives in practice. He said Vertafore’s new AI capabilities allow his team to process submissions in any format without extra configuration or outside dependencies.

The agent also checks whether a submission is complete. It flags missing information and generates follow-up requests automatically, reducing delays between MGAs, agents and brokers. Early user feedback shows the Submission Processing Agent reaching 87% accuracy.

Emily McGinn, general manager of MGA and Wholesale at Vertafore, said underwriters lose valuable time when they gather and organise information instead of assessing risk. She said the Submission Processing Agent helps teams reach decisions faster while handling more business with greater consistency and accuracy.

The product also shows how Vertafore wants to bring AI directly into insurance operating systems, rather than leave it as a separate layer beside the workflow. The Velocity AI Platform supports the company’s wider portfolio of AI agents across AgencyOne, MGA solutions and Sircon.

According to Beinsure, this launch fits a larger shift in insurance software: AI tools are moving closer to underwriting, distribution and back-office operations, where small process delays create bigger capacity problems across the value chain.

McGinn said Vertafore is putting AI into the areas where MGAs feel the most friction, especially underwriting intake. The goal is to reduce administrative drag so teams spend more time on judgement, appetite and risk selection.

Vertafore frames the product as part of its Distribution Velocity strategy, which focuses on faster movement across agencies, MGAs and carriers.

The company says its systems support sales, servicing, accounting, underwriting and back-office operations by reducing distribution bottlenecks across insurance workflows.

For MGAs, the practical benefit sits in the intake queue. Faster extraction and cleaner submission data give underwriting teams more time to review risks, respond to brokers and manage volume without adding the same level of manual work.
