Mahir is a Senior Economist responsible for research and analysis on the US economy. He is a contributor to sigma reports – Swiss Re’s research series on the insurance industry and macroeconomic trends. He supports Swiss Re’s strategic planning on market developments and the economic environment, and frequently speaks on economic related topics. He produces a quarterly US economic outlook publication, along with frequent economic insights on current events and developments in the US economy.

Mahir joined Swiss Re in 2022. His prior work experience includes economic research covering inflation, trade, and consumer sentiment at Oxford Economics and research on financial technology at Fidelity Investment Services. He has been cited in the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, NPR, and other financial media outlets.

Mahir holds a master’s degree from New York University and a bachelors degree from Pace University.
