Berkshire Hathaway launches Group Accident & Travel Insurance in the UK

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance has switched on Group Personal Accident and Business Travel Insurance in the UK, a move that broadens its global Accident & Health footprint and adds heft to its European play.

Nick Major, UK Country Manager, framed the rollout bluntly: employee safety and wellbeing rank high on every corporate agenda, and BHSI wants to plant a flag by offering tools that cut through the noise of today’s travel risks.

His pitch leaned into agility, not box-ticking, for a market that has been rattled by unpredictable disruptions.

Employee safety and wellbeing are strategic priorities for companies worldwide, and BHSI is pleased to bring our robust A&H solutions to organizations across the UK

“Today’s complex travel landscape demands a holistic and agile approach to risk management – precisely what BHSI delivers,” said Nick Major.

The package isn’t just traditional cover stapled onto a travel policy. It stretches across everyday and emerging exposures for both domestic and international trips. Clients get real-time risk alerts, location tracking, and emergency response through Healix International.

UK employees covered by Group Personal Accident policies also receive access to Teladoc Health UK services: 24/7 GP consults, second medical opinions, and a round-the-clock mental health line.

Running the UK Accident & Health line is Toni LePine, with Tom Keeble as Senior Underwriter. Both come in with serious track records and a clear mission to build long-term partnerships with brokers and buyers across the UK and beyond.

The launch plugs directly into BHSI’s existing A&H operations in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and the Middle East.

Structurally, the business in Europe trades under two entities: Berkshire Hathaway European Insurance DAC (BHEI), based in Dublin, and Berkshire Hathaway International Insurance Limited (BHIIL), based in London.

Both sit under the larger National Indemnity group of insurance companies, a part of Berkshire Hathaway with A++ ratings from AM Best and AA+ from Standard & Poor’s.

The footprint is far from small. Offices span Europe, Asia, Australia, North America, and the Middle East — from Boston to Barcelona, Singapore to Stockholm. The UK buildout shows BHSI’s willingness to keep adding capacity where corporate buyers demand it.
