Fintech Capitolis to acquire 20 Gates’ U.S. secured financing platform

Capitolis, a private financial technology company focused on making global capital markets safer and more efficient by “unlocking” balance sheet and capital constraints for banks and institutional investors, has agreed to acquire the U.S. Secured Financing Platform from 20 Gates Management, expanding its Capital Marketplace footprint in North America.

The platform, operating for more than 15 years, connects banks and institutional investors in secured financing transactions.

Once integrated, it will extend Capitolis’ secured financing capabilities from Europe into the US market, strengthening coverage across both regions. It operates a technology-driven marketplace and optimization platform used by many of the world’s largest financial institutions.

Chief Executive Officer and Founder Gil Mandelzis said US secured financing is a priority for clients seeking balance sheet optimization and capital efficiency.

He described the acquisition as an acceleration of existing growth plans and noted the addition of established client relationships and experienced personnel.

The deal brings senior talent from 20 Gates into Capitolis, supporting integration into the broader Capital Marketplace framework.

According to Beinsure analysts, secured financing solutions remain central to liquidity management strategies for banks navigating capital and funding constraints.

For 20 Gates Management, the transaction allows greater focus on its asset management strategy. Chief Executive Officer Hans Bald said the firm will concentrate on investing in private and revolving asset-backed securities.

Capitolis has expanded its leadership team in recent months across executive and sales functions, signaling continued scale ambitions.

The company is backed by venture investors including Andreessen Horowitz and Sequoia Capital and works with global banks to improve capital efficiency in financial markets.

The acquisition is expected to close in the coming weeks, subject to customary conditions.

Capitolis runs a B2B capital marketplace that connects banks, who originate and service client activity but face regulatory and balance-sheet constraints, with institutional investors seeking exposure to these assets. This allows risk and financing to be redistributed more efficiently.
