Gallagher buys Apollo to expand digital insurance in Canada

Gallagher acquired Dawson & Keenan Insurance, a retail insurance brokerage in Ontario

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. acquired Apollo Insurance Solutions Ltd., a Vancouver, British Columbia-based digital insurance broker and managing general agency. The companies did not disclose the transaction terms.

Apollo specializes in tenant insurance across Canada. Its proprietary platform uses AI to streamline insurance placement, giving brokers and partners a faster route from quote to coverage.

Jeff McCann and his team will stay in Vancouver. They will operate under Dave Partington, who leads Gallagher’s retail property and casualty brokerage operations across Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Gallagher, headquartered in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, operates as a global insurance brokerage, risk management and consulting services firm. The company provides services in about 130 countries through owned operations and a network of correspondent brokers and consultants.

For the second quarter of 2025, Gallagher’s reported and adjusted Brokerage Segment figures included about $144 mn of incremental interest income.

The company earned that income on cash proceeds linked to the AssuredPartners financing completed in December 2024. The amount equaled about 42 cents after tax.

For the second quarter of 2026, pretax adjustments totaled $505 mn for the Brokerage Segment, $12 mn for Risk Management and $33 mn for Corporate.

Gallagher recorded related income tax adjustments of $130 mn, $3 mn and negative $7 mn, respectively.

For the six months ended June 30, 2026, pretax adjustments reached $936 mn for Brokerage, $27 mn for Risk Management and $63 mn for Corporate. The corresponding income tax adjustments totaled $241 mn, $7 mn and negative $27 mn, respectively.
