Lloyd’s of London has appointed Alexandra Cliff as Chief Financial Officer, effective May 1, 2025. Alex joined Lloyd’s as Deputy CFO in November 2022 and is currently a member of its Executive Committee.
She has over 20 years of experience in the insurance sector, having held senior finance positions at Direct Line Group, StarStone, and AJ Gallagher. A Chartered Accountant, she spent eight years at PwC in London and the US.
She will succeed Burkhard Keese, who is leaving to pursue investment roles in the German insurance market. He will continue as a strategic advisor to Lloyd’s, focusing on the risk transfer vehicle London Bridge Two.
“Since joining as Deputy CFO, Alex has been instrumental in strengthening our financial position, securing ratings upgrades, enhancing our investment approach, and improving market reporting. She is a valued member of the Executive Committee, and I am confident she will drive our strategic priorities forward as CFO.
Burkhard, who joined in 2019, played a key role in improving Lloyd’s performance and strengthening its balance sheet. His leadership contributed to Lloyd’s achieving its highest-ever financial strength ratings from S&P Global and AM Best.
He also expanded investment opportunities through London Bridge One and Two.
“I want to thank Burkhard for leading Lloyd’s to record financial results and strengthening its capital position. His work has reinforced Lloyd’s resilience, elevated financial ratings, and attracted high-profile investors.”
