Quantum Bridge raises $8 mn to build quantum-safe cybersecurity

Quantum Bridge Technologies has closed an $8 mn Series A funding round led by Primo Capital SGR. The company will use the capital to accelerate global adoption of quantum-safe cybersecurity infrastructure.

Founded in 2019 by Mattia Montagna and Hoi-Kwong Lo, Quantum Bridge came out of a major quantum security research group. The company develops security systems designed for the cryptographic risks created by quantum computing.

Quantum Bridge targets the systemic threat quantum machines pose to current encryption infrastructure. Its patented Distributed Symmetric Key Establishment protocol, or DSKE, lets organizations generate, distribute, and manage symmetric keys through a decentralized architecture.

The system removes single points of failure and improves scalability. It also strengthens long-term cryptographic protection for organizations preparing for post-quantum security requirements.

Quantum Bridge built its platform to work across existing infrastructure, vendors, and security layers.

That means customers can add quantum-safe protection to optical encryptors, application-level systems, and other parts of the stack without disrupting current operations.

The company said its approach brings defense-grade security into commercial environments. It is meant to help customers move through quantum-safe migration with more flexibility and operational confidence.

Montagna, co-founder and CEO, said national security cannot wait for perfect conditions. He said Quantum Bridge builds quantum-safe systems that work inside real networks today and are designed to protect sovereign communications as threats change.

“National security can’t wait for perfect conditions. We build quantum-safe systems that work inside real networks today – systems designed to keep protecting sovereign communications as the threat landscape evolves. This funding means we can meet more organisations where they are, and get them protected faster,” Mattia Montagna said.

The round was backed by a global investor group. Participants included Wayra, Telefónica’s venture arm, Cadenza VC, Club degli Investitori angels, HPE, and Bacchus Venture Capital.

Together with earlier financing, Quantum Bridge has now raised $16 mn. The new funding gives the company more room to support customers moving from planning to deployment.

Mara Attardi, an investment professional at Primo Capital, said leading the round marks a major step for the firm in quantum technology. She said Primo sees the sector as central to digital security over the next decade.

Attardi said Quantum Bridge stood out because of the flexibility of its architecture. She also pointed to the team’s mix of research depth and commercial experience in global institutional markets.
