WTW, a global advisory, broking, and solutions company, has launched WTW Broker Japan Co., Ltd., expanding its Corporate Risk & Broking (CRB) business in Japan.
The new retail brokerage will provide insurance solutions to commercial clients and facilitate wholesale facultative reinsurance placements for partner brokers or agencies in Japan.
By early next year, the operation will include over 10 brokers and risk advisors, led by Tetsuro Nakazawa as Representative Director and Chief Operating Officer.
Nakazawa, a seasoned professional in facultative reinsurance broking with 25 years of experience across Japan, Singapore, and London, recently joined WTW.
Japan’s corporate insurance market is transforming, with an increasing role for independent international brokers. WTW Broker Japan is set to work closely with corporate clients and insurance partners to support companies in obtaining insurance and reinsurance for complex risks.

Ryohei (Roy) Nakazawa, Head of WTW Japan, expressed excitement about expanding services in Japan, with a focus on specialty broking solutions for large corporates and Japanese companies operating abroad.
This includes sectors such as Natural Resources, Power Plants, Renewables, Mining, Marine, Construction, Aviation, Crisis Management, Rep & Warranty, Captive, and reinsurance.
WTW’s existing agency company will continue serving domestic corporate clients and Japanese firms with global programs, supporting their collaboration with in-house agencies.
Luke Ware, Head of CRB Asia at WTW, highlighted this as a step to strengthen WTW’s market position as Japan’s top risk advisor and specialty broker.
He noted that Japanese businesses face growing risks in technology, cyber, supply chain, and climate transition. WTW aims to address these challenges with industry expertise and insights to help clients mitigate risks and enhance business performance.
