Gianfranco Lot – Chief Underwriting Officer Property & Casualty Reinsurance
Gianfranco Lot has been with Swiss Re since 2013 and has over 35 years of re/insurance underwriting and client management experience. He was appointed Chief Underwriting Officer P&C Reinsurance and member of the P&C Reinsurance Executive Committee effective 3 April 2023. In this role he will be responsible for leading the P&C underwriting team, driving underwriting performance and portfolio management across markets and lines of business globally.
Prior to this, Gianfranco held the role of Head Globals Reinsurance and was responsible for managing client relationships with large insurance clients. He was also a Client Executive, Managing Director, in the Globals Division, from 2013 until April 2020.
Gianfranco began his career in 1987 at Zurich Insurance, where he held various sales and underwriting management positions until 1995 when he joined Swiss Re as a Casualty Underwriter for Division Asia. In 1999 he joined Swiss Re New Markets focusing on Alternative Risk Transfer for Corporates.
Gianfranco left briefly in 2002, to become Head of Group Risk Pooling and Risk Strategies at Converium, before re-joining Swiss Re in 2006 in our Structured Reinsurance Solutions unit, which he led globally, based in Armonk New York, until 2013.
Gianfranco Lot was born in 1971 and is a dual Swiss and Italian citizen. He speaks English, German, Italian and French fluently.
