Allianz Partners, a leader in B2B2C insurance and assistance, and Uber, a global ridesharing company, have launched a new income protection product for UK Uber drivers, developed with insurtech Indeez. The “Vehicle Interruption Cover” (VIC) safeguards drivers’ income if their car becomes unusable.
The coverage is available to all Uber drivers in the UK enrolled in the Uber Pro program. Drivers can subscribe through the Uber app, with Indeez’s technology providing a seamless digital experience.
VIC expands the “Partners Protection Programme,” which already offers Uber drivers benefits like workplace accident and injury coverage, sick pay, and maternity/paternity benefits.
Jean-Marc Pailhol, Chief Officer of Global Strategic Partnerships at Allianz Partners, highlighted the product’s significance in supporting drivers within Uber’s ecosystem. He emphasized Allianz Partners’ goal of becoming Europe’s largest insurance provider for gig economy workers.
Hendrik Todte, Director of Uber Affinity UK, described VIC as a valuable tool for drivers, providing financial security during vehicle downtime. Vikas Chhariya, Founder and CEO of Indeez, expressed enthusiasm for supporting drivers through inclusive insurance, noting plans to extend these benefits to additional markets.
