The company also plans to expand personalized guidance that helps employees understand their coverage and access available benefits.
Benefits teams are responsible for one of the largest and most consequential investments their companies make, yet they’re still operating with outdated information, archaic spreadsheets, and technology built for another era.
Rohan D’Souza, CEO and co-founder of Avante
D’Souza said the company combines purpose-built software, real-time automation and benefits expertise to provide what he described as “100x leverage” for professionals whose decisions affect employees’ health, financial security and well-being.
Rising healthcare costs increase pressure on employee benefits teams
Employers are facing another year of rising medical expenses, with large companies projecting a median 9.2% increase in healthcare costs for 2027, according to the Business Group on Health’s employer healthcare strategy survey.
HR and benefits teams are being asked to contain spending without reducing coverage or employee support. Many continue to rely on spreadsheets, historical data and manual processes to manage complex arrangements involving multiple insurance providers, benefit plans, regulatory requirements and countries.
At many organizations, a relatively small team oversees one of the employer’s largest expenditure categories, making decisions that directly affect employees and their families.
Avante is targeting these administrative and analytical workloads with AI software designed specifically for benefits management.
Senator Bill Frist, M.D., co-founder and managing partner of Frist Cressey Ventures, said the investment reflects the need to simplify healthcare access while addressing employer costs.
As a physician, I saw again and again how hard it is for patients and their families to find their way through our health care system. Avante is harnessing AI to make that system easier to navigate, so employees get better care and employers get relief from costs that keep climbing.
Senator Bill Frist, co-founder and managing partner of Frist Cressey Ventures
Frist also cited the company’s experience across technology, healthcare and benefits, along with its relationships with major employers, as reasons for supporting its expansion.
Avante expands AI agents for benefits administration and vendor analysis
The funding follows the beta launch of Ava Agents, a set of AI tools designed to perform recurring benefits-related work and deliver completed outputs for human review.
For employers, Avante’s platform supports vendor performance assessments, insurance and benefits renewals, and the identification of coverage or program gaps.
Its AI agents compare vendor contracts against actual claims, examine plan documents for errors and inconsistencies, and monitor operational deadlines. The company says these capabilities allow benefits teams to complete analytical and administrative work that would otherwise be difficult to perform consistently at scale.
The system is intended to reduce time spent on routine processes and give benefits specialists more capacity for strategic planning, cost management and employee support.
Avante also provides employees with personalized assistance in understanding their benefits.
Workers can ask questions about their individual coverage, including family benefits and insurance arrangements following a new medical diagnosis. The platform provides guidance around the clock, reducing the need to wait for a response from an internal benefits administrator.
The company is extending these capabilities internationally as it develops additional AI agents for benefits operations.
Avante reports nearly 5x bookings growth and more than 70 customers
During the 18 months since its launch, Avante has expanded its customer base, increased commercial partnerships and reported improvements in benefits administration and employee engagement.
The company said bookings have grown nearly 5x year over year, while 100% of customers eligible for renewal have renewed their contracts. Its customer base now exceeds 70 accounts.
Across those organizations, Avante supports more than 385,000 employees and family members in understanding their benefits and accessing healthcare services throughout the year.
Customers have reported faster analysis, increased benefits utilization and more time available for strategic work.
At Real Chemistry, 83% of the company’s US workforce has engaged with Avante, according to Olga Reupert, senior vice president of Total Rewards, HR Global Operations & Enablement.
“Avante has been a game changer for the employee experience at Real Chemistry and the way our Benefits team works,” Reupert said. She added that on-demand benefits guidance has helped reduce administrative work, allowing the team to concentrate on priorities supporting the company’s growth.
Samsung Semiconductor reported a 66% increase in the number of employees and dependents who found and used mental health support already available through its benefits programs.
News Corp reported a substantial reduction in decision-making time by using its own benefits data to inform assessments and choices.
At Personify Health, Avante has answered more than 8,500 employee questions over the past year.
“Over the last year, our Avante solution has answered more than 8,500 questions from our employees, and we expect quite a few more during open enrollment,” said Brooke Cardarella, chief people officer at Personify Health.
Cardarella said the platform also provides information about employees’ needs and the areas of benefits coverage they find confusing, helping the company improve internal communications and make more targeted program investments.
Avante strengthens partnerships with employee benefits advisors
Alongside its direct customer growth, Avante has established strategic partnerships with major benefits advisory firms, including Gallagher, OneDigital, Segal Benz, Howden and USI Insurance Services.
The relationships extend the company’s reach across the employee benefits market, where advisors work with employers on healthcare plans, insurance arrangements, benefits administration and cost management.
Avante plans to use the new financing to expand those capabilities globally, develop additional automated workflows and improve personalized employee guidance.
Its latest investment comes as large employers anticipate a median 9.2% increase in healthcare costs for 2027, adding pressure on benefits teams to evaluate spending, improve program utilization and manage administrative workloads without reducing employee coverage.
