Flood Re, a UK government-backed reinsurance scheme, is introducing a new Flood Bus, named Flo, as part of a national effort in Scotland to strengthen property-level flood protection and help communities prepare for future flooding.
The vehicle will be unveiled at the Scottish Flood Resilience Conference on January 28-29, hosted by Sniffer, the Scotland and Northern Ireland Forum for Environmental Research.
Flo aims to increase awareness of Property Flood Resilience (PFR) measures and Build Back Better (BBB) repairs among brokers, insurers, claims providers, flood risk professionals, builders, suppliers, and communities exposed to flood risks.
After the conference, Flo will connect with flood resilience groups in Perth as part of the Water’s Rising exhibition at the local museum. From mid-March, it will visit flood-prone communities across Scotland, supporting the Scottish Flood Forum’s initiatives and regional events focused on resilience.

The vehicle offers practical guidance on flood preparedness, case studies on the benefits of small flood protection investments, details about the Flood Re scheme and its partner insurers, and professional resources on the Ciria PFR Code of Practice and CIWEM-accredited PFR training.
As flooding remains a significant issue in Scotland, Flo will play a key role in raising awareness and encouraging proactive measures to protect homes.
Stuart Logue, Interim CEO of Flood Re, stated, “Flood resilience isn’t just a technical term – it’s a lifeline for communities. We know that demonstrating Property Flood Resilience measures in practice significantly drives action.”
The Flood Bus will provide insight into how design changes can reduce the impact and cost of flooding for households. Flo, equipped with various PFR features, also offers an immersive VR experience, allowing visitors to explore an adapted home and visit Flood Re’s Flood Resilient Garden.
Stuart Logue, Interim CEO of Flood Re
“We look forward to seeing how the Flood Bus influences PFR adoption in Scotland by bringing education on resilience, adaptation, and Build Back Better directly to at-risk communities.”
