  • Insureon partnered with LIO Insurance to expand specialty commercial coverage for small businesses, starting with digital special event insurance.
  • LIO’s platform supports hundreds of specialty classes and uses AI-assisted submission workflows to produce bindable quotes within minutes.
  • The partnership expands Insureon’s carrier network and gives its licensed producers access to more niche P&C products for specialized commercial risks.

Insureon has partnered with specialty commercial property and casualty carrier LIO Insurance to expand insurance options for small businesses with niche risks. The initial collaboration introduces a digital route for special event coverage, with additional specialty classes expected to follow.

Insureon, part of HUB International, provides commercial insurance to small and medium-sized businesses through its online platform. The partnership adds LIO’s specialty products to Insureon’s existing carrier network.

LIO combines specialist underwriting with a digital insurance platform. Its technology uses AI-assisted submission workflows and is designed to produce bindable quotes within minutes while keeping underwriters responsible for risk selection.

Jeff Kroeger, President of Insureon, said the partnership will give small businesses another option for obtaining coverage for more specialized exposures. He said LIO’s underwriting experience and digital capabilities support Insureon’s existing online distribution model.

The first product available through the collaboration focuses on special events. Insureon and LIO also plan to examine opportunities to add other commercial specialty products over time.

LIO’s retail platform covers hundreds of specialty classes. These include amateur sports and health and wellness businesses, along with nonprofit and social service organizations.

The carrier also provides coverage for community associations and miscellaneous professional liability risks. Insureon’s licensed producers will have access to LIO products when working with customers that require specialized commercial insurance.

Tim Maguire, President and Chief Revenue Officer at LIO Insurance, said the carrier uses technology to support rather than replace underwriting judgment. He said the Insureon partnership will extend LIO’s specialty products to a larger group of small business customers.

The agreement increases the range of commercial insurance available through Insureon’s digital platform. Customers use Insureon to compare quotes, purchase policies and manage existing coverage.

Chicago-based Insureon operates as an independent digital commercial insurance agency within HUB International. It is licensed across all 50 US states and serves businesses in multiple industries.

LIO operates as a specialty property and casualty insurer with in-house underwriting and claims teams. The carrier holds an A- VIII financial strength rating from AM Best and works with A+ rated reinsurance partners.
