Paperclip (OTC: PCPJ), an insurance technology company focused on secure data exchange, document intelligence, workflow, and orchestration solutions, has completed the acquisition of substantially all the operating assets of Apis Productions, expanding its insurance technology business into digital distribution, application development and technology-enabled services.
The transaction brings Apis’ insurance distribution expertise and digital capabilities into Paperclip’s existing portfolio of secure data exchange, document intelligence, workflow management and orchestration solutions.
- Paperclip acquired substantially all operating assets of Apis Productions, expanding its insurance technology and digital distribution capabilities.
- The companies plan a phased integration combining secure data exchange, document intelligence, workflow automation, insurance platform connectivity and AI consulting services.
The acquired business will operate as Apis Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Paperclip. The arrangement is intended to preserve Apis’ established brand identity, customer relationships and specialist services while giving the business access to Paperclip’s technology infrastructure, resources and insurance-industry network.
Paperclip expands insurance distribution and digital technology capabilities
Apis provides insurance-specific websites and portals, hosting and cybersecurity services, custom application development, marketing solutions and artificial intelligence consulting.
Its technology offering also includes an integrated connectivity network linking most major insurance technology platforms, supporting information exchange and digital interactions across the distribution sector.
Paperclip expects the acquisition to strengthen its ability to connect insurance carriers, distributors, brokerage general agencies (BGAs), independent marketing organizations (IMOs), producers and technology providers through integrated digital services.
The acquisition of Apis represents an important step in Paperclip’s evolution into a broader, connected insurance technology platform.
Ron Alexander, Chief Executive Officer of Paperclip
“Apis brings strong customer relationships, deep insurance-distribution expertise, and valuable digital capabilities that complement our strengths in secure data exchange, document intelligence, workflow, and orchestration. Together, we can serve customers more comprehensively and accelerate our vision for a more connected, secure, and intelligent insurance ecosystem,” said Ron Alexander.
The acquisition combines businesses serving many of the same participants in the insurance market, with complementary technology offerings intended to improve connectivity between data, applications and operational processes.
Apis Technologies to retain leadership and existing customer services
Paperclip said maintaining service continuity across both organizations will be a priority during the transition.
Existing Apis customers will continue receiving support for their current products, projects and contractual service commitments.
Paperclip plans to introduce additional capabilities from its wider technology portfolio gradually, without immediate changes to Apis’ operating model.
Peri Lane, founder and current Chief Executive Officer of Apis Productions, will remain responsible for the acquired business’s day-to-day operations as President of Apis Technologies. “This combination creates an exciting opportunity for our customers, our team, and the insurance community we serve,” said Lane.
Paperclip shares our commitment to practical innovation, strong customer relationships, and helping insurance organizations connect and grow.
Peri Lane, founder and current CEO of Apis Productions
“By bringing together Apis’ digital and distribution capabilities with Paperclip’s secure data and platform technologies, we will be able to deliver greater value while preserving the responsiveness and industry focus that our customers expect.”
Paperclip plans phased integration of insurance technology platforms
The companies intend to integrate their operations in stages, initially concentrating on customer and employee continuity, knowledge transfer and operational alignment.
The process will also involve identifying opportunities to offer existing products and services to a wider customer base across the insurance industry.
Paperclip sees opportunities to develop additional solutions, strengthen strategic relationships and improve the coordination of technology services used by insurers and distribution organizations.
The combined offering is intended to address fragmentation across insurance data, technology systems and workflows by connecting Apis’ digital distribution capabilities with Paperclip’s secure data management and automation technologies.
The initial integration phase will focus on maintaining existing operations while assessing how the companies’ complementary solutions can be introduced across their respective customer networks.
