Carpe Data, an insurtech company that provides “next-generation” data products to property and casualty insurers, especially in the U.S. and Europe, appointed Glenn Shapiro as Chairman of its Board of Directors, adding a senior claims executive with more than three decades of experience at major US carriers.
Shapiro previously served as President of Allstate Insurance Company, where he oversaw digital transformation across claims operations and expanded automation in complex workflows.
He also held leadership roles at Liberty Mutual, Safeco Insurance, and Hartford Life.
He said insurers face mounting pressure to deliver faster and more consistent claims outcomes while managing fraud and cost inflation.
“Carpe Data has been at the forefront of modernizing the claims processes, and the opportunity ahead is even greater,” said Glenn Shapiro. “I’ve seen first-hand how insurers are under immense pressure to deliver faster, fairer, and more consistent outcomes for customers. Carpe Data’s technology gives them a meaningful edge.”
According to Beinsure analysts, carriers increasingly rely on external data signals to shorten claim cycle times and reduce leakage.
Chief Operating Officer Geoff Andrews described the appointment as a strategic move as Carpe Data enters its second decade.
Glenn has been a driving force behind the industry’s evolution toward intelligent, tech-enabled claims management. His appointment is a strategic decision for the board, and an exciting gain for the future of our organization.

Founded in 2016, the company built early capabilities around operationalizing online and social media data for claims assessment. Its platform converts publicly available digital information into structured alerts and investigative outputs.
Carpe Data’s products include Online Injury Alerts, Investigative Reports, and commercial underwriting tools aimed at small business risk evaluation.
The company says its historical dataset and AI-driven pattern detection support earlier fraud identification and automated decision pathways.
Shapiro’s appointment comes as carriers reassess claims cost structures and invest in analytics-driven workflows. Carpe Data positions its tools as a way to surface actionable signals before losses escalate or investigative costs compound.
