Insurtech Wopta Assicurazioni closed a €4.1 mn Series A funding

Wopta Assicurazioni, an insurtech MGA focused on insurance protecting businesses and professionals from everyday risks, has closed a €4.1 mn Series A funding round.

This brings the insurtech’s total funding to about €8 mn since its inception.

In 2023, Wopta showcased remarkable financial performance, with a threefold increase compared to the previous year.

The company reported over €3 mn in intermediated premiums, €1.4 mn in total revenue, and a customer base of 180,000.

These results highlight the success of Wopta’s phygital business model, which merges digital technology and data with personalized customer interactions through a network of insurance specialists across Italy.

Since its launch, Wopta has achieved significant milestones: over €3 mn in intermediated premiums, 180,000 insured clients, €1.4 mn in revenue, and partnerships with 1,000 distribution partners, including over 150 insurance specialists known as Wopters.

The insurtech has forged new collaborations with fintech HYPE, Banca Sella, and Facile.it Partner Switcho, along with agreements with associations such as ConfProfessioni through BeProf, ConfCommercio, and the Scientific Society for Oxygen-Ozone Therapy (SIOOT).

Wopta’s new shareholders, brought together through a club deal named “Asset Plus srl,” include over 30 Italian families and business angels, such as Holding B3 (Calzedonia Group), the Macchi family, the Cammi family, Ettore Riello, Davide Parenti, Massimo Ambrosini, and Cristina Parodi.

They join existing investors like CNA – Confederazione Nazionale Artigiani, Key Capital Venture, Cordifin Spa, and Carlo Fagioli.

Insurtech Wopta has started preparations for its next Series B round, aiming to boost growth.

Plans include expanding the product range, extending the distribution network, and introducing new personal line solutions, including car insurance.

The company intends to enhance its market presence through targeted acquisitions in the Italian and European re/insurance market.
