Insurtech incubator Lloyd’s Lab celebrates Cohort 15 and opens Cohort 16

Lloyd’s Lab celebrates insurtech Cohort 15 and opens applications for Cohort 16

Lloyd’s, the global insurance and reinsurance marketplace, has celebrated the graduation of 12 InsurTechs from Cohort 15 of the Lloyd’s Lab Accelerator, marking the occasion with a Demo Day at the Lloyd’s Building in London.

Backed by a proven track record, our alumni have collectively raised over $1.7 bn in investment, generated $359 mn in Gross Written Premium, and 97% remain actively trading within the Lloyd’s market.

The companies presented solutions co-developed with the Lloyd’s market during an intensive 10-week programme, addressing challenges ranging from environmental risk management to AI-driven claims processing.

The event was opened by Dawn Miller, Lloyd’s Chief Commercial Officer and CEO of Lloyd’s Americas, and hosted by Rosie Denée, Lloyd’s Head of Innovation and Commercial Education.

Cohort 15 focused on three strategic themes: Adapting to a Changing World, Traditional Lines for Today, and Data Intelligence and Process Transformation.

The graduating companies now join the Lloyd’s Lab alumni network, which has supported more than 160 businesses since 2018. Alumni coverholders have written approximately $420 mn in premium to date.

Lloyd’s Lab, ranked the leading insurance incubator by the Financial Times, operates without taking equity and follows a stage-agnostic approach, supporting both early-stage startups and established scale-ups.

At the event, Lloyd’s also announced that applications are now open for Cohort 16, which will run from April to July 2026.

For the first time, the programme will include a dedicated Irish theme, developed in partnership with Ireland’s Department of Finance.

Cohort 16 will focus on three key themes:

  • Operational efficiency in the Lloyd’s market
  • New products for the Lloyd’s market
  • Ireland theme: Resilience and capital to support growth

This stream will focus on flood risk, cyber, artificial intelligence and export finance, alongside two broader themes covering operational efficiency and new product development for the Lloyd’s market.

Participants selected for Cohort 16 will receive mentorship from Ireland-based market experts and gain direct access to Lloyd’s underwriters, capital providers and distribution partners. The programme will include three mandatory in-person weeks in London.

Rosie Denée said Cohort 15 demonstrated how combining technology with market expertise can unlock new premium and strengthen resilience, while the Ireland partnership would bring fresh perspectives to pressing market challenges.

Cohort 15 has shown the power of combining cutting-edge technology with deep market expertise to unlock new premium and build resilience. As these companies graduate, we’re opening the door to Cohort 16, where our partnership with Ireland will bring fresh perspectives to address critical challenges facing both the Irish economy and the Lloyd’s market

Lloyd’s Europe CEO Jonathan May added that the initiative reinforces Lloyd’s commitment to European innovation and highlights Irish InsurTech talent on a global stage.

The Lloyd’s Lab runs an InsurTech accelerator programme which aims to help innovative ideas gain traction and success in market.

Located in the heart of the world’s specialist insurance market, the Lloyd’s Lab provides  the chance to develop new technology solutions with guidance from experienced insurance professionals.

Over 10 weeks, startups, scaleups, and sometimes mature companies, are given the unique opportunity to develop a new product for the Lloyd’s market in a focused environment.
