Global life insurer MetLife has taken a 20% stake in Klimber, an insurtech pushing to change how insurance is distributed across Latin America.
The deal gives Klimber a stronger position in the region’s digital insurance race and aligns with MetLife’s broader push to expand access through tech-driven platforms.
Klimber’s system lets banks, fintechs, retailers, and e-commerce groups embed insurance sales directly into their businesses. The company relies on data and artificial intelligence to streamline everything from underwriting to customer experience.
Klimber CEO Julián Bersano said the mission from day one was to make coverage simple, scalable, and accessible. With 13.9mn people protected and nearly $300mn in managed premiums, Bersano argued the proof is visible in the numbers.

“Today, seeing more than 13.9 million people protected and nearly 300 million dollars in managed premiums is concrete proof of that vision. Our platform is helping transform insurance underwriting and the customer experience, expanding access to protection in under-penetrated markets,” said Julián Bersano.
For MetLife, the move fits its “New Frontier” strategy. Naomi Johnson, Director of Business Transformation and Innovation at MetLife Latin America, said the investment is about supporting innovation, driving growth, and broadening access.

Both companies frame the partnership as a way to shrink protection gaps in underinsured markets.
With MetLife’s capital and Klimber’s embedded model, the ambition is clear: build scale quickly and push insurance deeper into the digital ecosystems shaping Latin American finance and commerce.
