UK-based insurance group Howden has acquired the intellectual property assets of Cybeta, a cyber data and analytics company. The deal is aimed at strengthening Howden’s cyber insurance capabilities for clients in the US.
Financial terms were not disclosed. Cybeta was founded in 2019 by data science specialists with backgrounds in the US Department of Defense and intelligence communities.
The company specialises in predicting and preventing cyberattacks. Under the agreement, former Cybeta team members will join Howden, bringing experience in cyber threat intelligence and predictive analytics.
Howden said the acquisition should support faster and more precise cyber risk assessments. The technology will be used across underwriting, placement, and claims.
Cybeta’s tools are also expected to help Howden build real-time cyber risk profiles tailored to individual clients.
For companies with complex cyber exposures, that work could improve insurability and give underwriters a clearer view of risk.
The transaction follows Howden’s launch of a dedicated US cyber practice in January 2026. The unit covers brokerage, claims, client service, cyber risk consulting, product development, and strategy.
Howden Americas CEO Mike Parrish said Cybeta’s technology deepens the group’s ability to deliver meaningful insights at the speed clients now expect around cyber risk. He said Juliet White and Ron Borys, who helped drive the acquisition, are building a differentiated client offering.
According to Beinsure analysts, the deal fits a wider shift in cyber insurance. Brokers are moving beyond placement and adding data tools that help clients explain exposure before a loss, not after a claim fight starts.
Howden also agreed last month to acquire Hymans Robertson’s Insurance and Financial Services consulting team. The group said that deal would strengthen its insurance actuarial and longevity consulting capabilities.
The combined unit will be named Howden Insurance Actuarial & Longevity. It will bring together Hymans Robertson IFS specialists and actuarial professionals from Barnett Waddingham, who joined Howden earlier.
