Peak Re established Peak Reinsurance North America

Peak Reinsurance has established Peak Reinsurance North America, a new subsidiary based in Bermuda. The company will focus on casualty reinsurance and operate under a Class 3B license.

According to the group, the launch supports its international growth strategy and expands its presence in the North American market.

CEO Franz-Josef Hahn stated that the new entity enhances the group’s ability to serve clients in the region and strengthens its global position.

Bermuda offers regulatory stability, market access, and proximity to key clients, which Peak Re views as strategic advantages.

The group noted that Peak Re NA will work closely with its global operations in underwriting, pricing, marketing, and risk management.

Peak Reinsurance Company Limited, established in 2012 and headquartered in Hong Kong, operates as a global reinsurer. The company offers reinsurance solutions in property and casualty, life and health, and structured reinsurance segments. It serves clients across Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

Peak Re reported reinsurance revenue of $1.16 bn and a net profit of $187 mn. The company’s total equity stood at $1.43 bn at year-end. AM Best assigned Peak Re a Financial Strength Rating of A- (Excellent) and a Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of “a-,” both with a stable outlook.

The company is authorized by the Insurance Authority of Hong Kong under the Insurance Ordinance (Cap. 41). Its ownership structure includes Fosun International Limited holding approximately 87% and Prudential Financial, Inc. holding about 13% through Peak Reinsurance Holdings Limited.

Peak Re has expanded its global presence with subsidiaries and branches in Zurich, Bermuda, Shenzhen, Labuan, Tokyo, and GIFT City in India.

In 2025, the company established Peak Reinsurance North America Ltd. in Bermuda, focusing on casualty reinsurance. This entity operates under a Class 3B license and holds an A- (Excellent) rating from AM Best.

The company’s business lines include property and casualty reinsurance, life and health reinsurance, and structured solutions. The structured solutions team, led by Chenwei Li, provides capital and risk management services to clients.

Peak Re continues to focus on portfolio diversification and disciplined underwriting to manage exposure to natural catastrophe events and other risks. The company aims to grow its business through existing client relationships, new product lines, and expansion into new markets.
