Joseph Theuns, CFA – Associate at Autonomous Research
Joseph Theuns is an Equity Research Associate at Autonomous Research, where he focuses on European insurance coverage, including names such as Lancashire and Conduit. He specializes in equity research and financial modeling, contributing to detailed market assessments and sector outlooks.
Before joining Autonomous in October 2022, Joseph spent over four years at Cambridge Associates. As a Senior Investment Associate on the EMEA multi-asset team, he advised a range of institutional clients including sovereign wealth funds, corporates, endowments, and family offices. His work spanned portfolio construction, capital markets assumptions, public and private market due diligence, and pitch development—leading to over $500mn in new assets under advisement.
Earlier roles at Cambridge Associates included Investment Associate and Analyst positions, where he gained hands-on experience across asset classes and portfolio structures. Prior to that, he held internship positions at AlphaParity, a global macro hedge fund, and AXA Investment Managers, where he supported strategic mandate development and product management.
Joseph holds a Master of Science in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics (LSE) and a First-Class Honours degree in Investment and Financial Risk Management from Cass Business School. He is a CFA Charterholder since 2021.
His technical background includes work in trading analytics, capital market research, client portfolio design, and institutional strategy. He combines deep financial expertise with hands-on market experience, delivering research with precision and practical relevance to the insurance investment space.
