Mona Barnes – Aon’s Global Chief Claims Officer
Mona Barnes is the Global Chief Claims Officer at Aon, based in London, with nearly two decades of experience in complex claims management, litigation strategy, and operational leadership across global insurance markets. Before assuming her current role in 2024, she served as Chief Claims Officer for Aon’s Global Broking Centre and UK division.
Her expertise spans both the corporate and reinsurance sectors. Prior to joining Aon, Mona spent over four years at Swiss Re as Director and Head of Key Case & Large Loss Management. She also held senior leadership roles during her 13-year tenure at Chubb, including Vice President for Overseas General Claims and European Financial Lines Claims Manager. She began her career as a solicitor with Beachcroft LLP.
Mona regularly speaks about the rising complexity of insurance claims, especially in the context of climate-related events and evolving litigation risks. She highlights the importance of proactive, client-focused claims strategies that build confidence and improve outcomes. Under her leadership, Aon has emphasized transparency, early resolution, and the integration of advanced analytics in global claims handling.
In addition to her corporate work, Mona previously served as Company Secretary for Smart Works Charity, which supports women in need. She holds a Law degree (LLB) from University College London and is an alumna of Edgbaston High School for Girls.
