Tobias Grimm – Chief climate scientist at Munich Re
Tobias Grimm is Head of Climate Advisory and Natcat Data with Munich Re’s Climate Change Solutions Department. His team is responsible for developing climate related business solutions including data services and advisory within the Group Division Strategy&Innovation.
Tobias has a long track record as Senior Expert for natural hazards, climate change and renewable energies. From 2020 until 2023, he helped to launch a climate banking project and built up a Greentech sales pipeline for Munich Re of Australia in Sydney. Over many years, he has been Deputy Head of Chief Climate Scientist for the Munich Re Group and contributed a lot to Munich Re’s positioning on climate change.
In 2005, Tobias joined Munich Re. He holds a Master’s degree in geography and applied meteorology from the University of Munich.
Senior Climate Change Expert with profound reinsurance, risk management, natural catastrophes, cat modelling, corporate responsibility and renewable energy background. Initiated and implemented a lot of innovative ideas, projects and strategies. One milestone was the launch of the Desertec industrial initiative project.
I helped in Australia clients in the financial sector to understand, measure and manage their physical risks, and developed new business for the renewable energies industry in AUZ/NZ.
Back in Europe since early 2023 as Head of Climate Advisory and Natcat Data and one of Munich Re‘s speaker on climate change and natural hazards.
