Ageas UK and Saga launch 20-year insurance partnership for over-50s

Ageas UK and Saga have launched a 20-year affinity partnership aimed at delivering motor and home insurance products to customers aged over 50. Motor new business goes live today. Home insurance follows in Q1 2026.

Backed by Belgium’s largest multi-national insurer, and having protected customers since 1824, Ageas combine global strength with deep local knowledge, putting people at the heart of everything we do.

The structure splits roles cleanly. Saga takes charge of marketing and proposition design for its customer base.

Ageas runs price comparison distribution, pricing and underwriting, claims, and customer service. Customer ownership stays with Saga.

We think the design reflects a clear trade-off. Saga keeps the relationship and insight. Ageas runs the engine room. Fewer moving parts, fewer handoffs, less friction.

Ant Middle, chief executive of Ageas UK, said the launch lands as planned and fits the group’s push to build scale in UK personal lines. He said the pairing brings together trusted brands with complementary capabilities to deliver motor cover now and home cover shortly for over-50s customers.

This launch, delivered as planned, is an important milestone in our strategy to build scale and deliver great outcomes for customers in the UK.

Ant Middle, CEO, Ageas UK

“Together with Saga, we’re combining trusted brands and complementary strengths to offer compelling Motor and, shortly, Home propositions for over‑50s customers,” said Ant Middle. “At Ageas UK, we bring together a strong family of insurance brands – including Ageas and Rias, and work in partnership with Saga to deliver trusted insurance solutions to over four million customers.”

Motor leads the rollout. Home waits a few months. That staggered timing suggests caution, maybe capacity planning, maybe systems bedding in. Either way, the horizon runs long. Twenty years is a statement.

Mike Hazell, chief executive of Saga plc, framed the partnership as a step toward simplifying and de-risking Saga’s insurance operations.

70 years ago, our founder Sidney De Haan saw something special – a chance to create affordable holidays for older people. Since then, we’ve grown by understanding what people over 50 want and need, delivering it with care and quality.

Today, that’s boutique cruises, tailored holidays, trusted insurance and a magazine that shares the unique experiences and wisdom of our community.

He credited teams at both firms for delivering on time and within budget. Hazell said the mix of Ageas’ insurance capability and Saga’s long track record with older customers creates a strong offering on price and service.

The launch of our insurance partnership with Ageas marks a major milestone in the execution of our strategy, simplifying and de‑risking our insurance operations. I want to thank all Saga and Ageas colleagues whose hard work has delivered this project on time and within budget.

Mike Hazell, Chief Executive, Saga

“The combination of Ageas’ market‑leading insurance capabilities and Saga’s 75‑year history of serving people over 50 creates a winning partnership offering quality cover at competitive prices, with the service our customers expect,” said Mike Hazell.

According to Beinsure analysts, long-dated affinity deals have returned as insurers look for stable distribution with defined demographics. The partnership reads like a bet on all three.
