Allianz UK to cut 650 jobs amid digital shift

Rokstone and Allianz sign 5Y capacity deal to expand specialty insurance lines

Allianz UK will reduce its workforce by 650 positions across its operations in the United Kingdom as it adjusts to increased demand for digital services.

The company, which employs about 6,000 people in the country, confirmed the decision in an internal communication, according to a company spokesperson.

The job cuts will affect teams in personal lines, commercial, specialty, and central functions. Allianz stated the decision reflects changing customer preferences for digital and self-service support, as well as shifts in claims activity—especially in motor insurance.

The company noted that fewer accidents are occurring on U.K. roads due to advances in vehicle technology.

In response, Allianz UK will implement a multiyear transformation program to restructure its operations into a more digital-focused, streamlined model.

The company described its objective as creating a “simpler, digital-led, leaner business.”

In a formal statement, Allianz acknowledged the effect of the decision on employees, stating: “We appreciate this is disappointing and difficult news and our priority now is to support those who’ve been impacted.”

The company added it is offering support and guidance to affected staff and consulting with employee representative groups during the process.
