Aon launches upgraded Event Analytics to sharpen catastrophe response

Aon rolled out an upgraded Event Analytics platform, pitching it as a single interface that merges hazard, exposure, and loss data.

The tool plugs into catastrophe workflows before, during, and after an event, letting re/insurers move faster with sharper data.

Key features include real-time loss estimates from Impact Forecasting’s Automated Event Response service, mapping tools to visualize event footprints, and tailored reports for different stakeholders. It also lets carriers re-run historical disasters—Hurricanes Milton, Ian, and Helene, for example—against current portfolios to measure present-day exposure.

According to Aon, this design should tighten reserving, improve claims efficiency, and streamline the customer experience during catastrophe events.

The backdrop is severe. Aon’s Global Catastrophe Recap for the first half of 2025 flagged insured losses topping $100bn.

Despite that, just 54% of insurers used models to steer response strategies, per the firm’s 2025 Catastrophe Risk Management Survey.

Dan Hartung, who heads Event Response for Risk Capital, said insurers face constant pressure to act quickly, but scattered data drags decisions.

He argued the platform delivers actionable insights in near real time, giving insurers a way to triage losses, mobilize staff, and update stakeholders without delay.
