ARX became one of the first insurers in Ukraine to systematically develop war risk insurance for businesses. The coverage applies to company property, commercial real estate, production facilities and other assets critical to business operations.
Andriy Peretyazhko, Chairman of the Management Board at ARX, presented the company’s experience in developing commercial war risk insurance solutions during the full-scale war at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026.
Partnerships with DFC and Lloyd’s syndicates have allowed ARX to substantially increase available insurance capacity. For certain business risks, war risk insurance limits can reach $30mn.
“The creation of a functioning commercial war risk insurance market during a full-scale war is a unique Ukrainian case, something global practice has not seen for the past 40 years. For ARX, this business became possible because of a conservative reserving policy, strong underwriting and a focus on financial stability,” Peretyazhko said.
According to him, the company focuses on portfolio quality and targets a combined ratio of around 95%. The approach is intended to support not only product availability for clients but also its long-term economic viability.
Our partnership with DFC and Lloyd’s allowed us to increase coverage limits to $30mn and provide businesses with a practical tool for recovery, asset protection and attracting investment
For companies operating during the war, war risk insurance has become one of the tools for managing potential financial losses and protecting assets. ARX views the business as part of the insurance sector’s contribution to Ukraine’s economic recovery.
Insurance coverage helps businesses reduce part of the financial exposure associated with damage to or loss of assets. For investors and lenders, functioning insurance mechanisms also reduce uncertainty when financing projects in Ukraine.
On June 24, the National Bank of Ukraine held a side event at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2026 in Gdansk titled “Ukraine’s Insurance and Banking Sectors: Investment, Partnership and Economic Recovery.”
The event focused on the role of the financial sector in Ukraine’s reconstruction, investment attraction and risk reduction for businesses. Market participants discussed how insurance and banking instruments can support companies and recovery financing under wartime conditions.
