Brittni Mealy has accused Future of ignoring a court order tied to their 12-year-old son, Prince. The legal dispute between Future and Brittni Mealy has reached a high-stakes point as of early April 2026.
In a petition filed in Fulton County Superior Court, Georgia, in early March, Mealy said the rapper failed to comply with a 2023 order requiring him to secure a $500,000 life insurance policy for their son, with Mealy named as trustee.
She said the policy was supposed to be in place by August 12, 2023. According to the filing, it still is not.
The petition said more than 18 months had passed since the compliance deadline. Mealy also said she made several written requests over a span of months, though Future still failed to comply.
She is asking the court to hold him in contempt and jail him until he follows the order.
Future, whose legal name is Nayvadius Cash, had not responded to the petition at the time of the report. His original surname was reportedly Wilburn before a change in 2022.
The dispute lands after years of public conflict between the two. In 2021, a story spread online after Future allegedly called Mealy a hoe in a text sent to their son after the child told him Mealy wanted money for school clothes.
Mealy later posted the alleged message to Instagram Stories and accused Future of being inconsistent as a father. She also said at the time he had not seen their son in several months.
Future has at least seven children with six women, including singer Ciara.
That same year, both sides turned the fallout into merch. Future released shirts carrying the phrase Pray for her. Mealy answered with merchandise reading Pray for him. Messy, sure, though very public.
In 2023, Mealy also won an increase in child support. A judge ordered Future to pay $5,000 a month, up from the previous $3,000.
The escalating tension is rooted in several key historical and financial factors:
- During the 2023 child support proceedings, court documents revealed that Future was earning approximately $30,000 per month. This disclosure led the judge to increase his monthly support obligation from $3,000 to $5,000, noting that his income had risen significantly since the initial 2014 ruling.
- In earlier filings, Mealy accused Future of being a “no-show” during scheduled parenting time, which forced her to bear additional childcare expenses. Future reportedly cited his erratic professional schedule as the reason for his inconsistent visits.
- Following their 2021 text message feud, the pair took their dispute to the fashion world. Future released shirts that said “Pray for her,” while Mealy retaliated with her own line of “Pray for him” merchandise.
- Future reportedly has 30 days to respond to the new contempt petition or face a default judgment. As of now, he has not issued a public response.
This case is part of a broader history of litigation for the rapper, who has children with at least seven different women and has faced similar financial disputes with other partners, such as Eliza Reign.
