ICEYE and Aon enhances real-time disaster data for reinsurers

ICEYE, a satellite-based disaster management provider, announced that Aon has expanded its data licensing agreement. Aon will now include ICEYE’s Flood insurance Insights data globally and Wildfire Insights data for the U.S.

This partnership allows Aon to integrate ICEYE’s near real-time flood and wildfire data into its event response services for reinsurance clients. The goal is to improve loss analysis during catastrophic events.

Stephen Lathrope, Senior Vice President for Solutions at ICEYE, commented: “We’re pleased to expand our agreement with Aon and build on the success of our existing solutions. In a landscape of increasingly severe and complex natural catastrophes, rapid access to damage and hazard data is essential.”

ICEYE continues to expand its satellite network and technology, shaping the future of disaster response

ICEYE’s high-resolution data provides Aon with precise, location-specific insights on the effects of floods and wildfires. ICEYE’s satellites, equipped with synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology, offer constant global monitoring.

The technology ensures data availability within hours of an event, regardless of time, weather, or smoke, with ongoing updates as conditions change.

As climate risk increasingly impacts weather events, Aon remains committed to delivering accurate catastrophe data and analytics

Dan Dick, Aon’s Global Head of Property Analytics for Reinsurance

“By incorporating ICEYE’s Flood and Wildfire Insights, we offer clients improved clarity and confidence regarding the financial impact of disasters, helping them make informed business decisions”, Dan Dick says.

ICEYE’s Flood Insights data provides near real-time, high-resolution information on flood events worldwide. Leveraging synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology from its satellite network, ICEYE can monitor flood conditions regardless of time, weather, or visibility.

This allows for continuous, precise mapping of flood extents and depths, offering valuable insights into affected areas.

The data can be accessed within hours of a flood event and is updated regularly as conditions evolve. Flood Insights provides location-specific data, helping insurers, emergency responders, and other stakeholders assess the impact on properties and infrastructure, enabling faster and more accurate decision-making during and after flood events.
