Insurtech Vertafore launches four AI agents for insurance agencies

Vertafore has introduced its Agentic Agency model alongside four new Velocity AI agents for independent insurance agencies.

The Denver-based InsurTech company designed the agents to reduce manual work across agency operations. Areas include policy servicing, document research and commercial policy processing.

Vertafore describes the Agentic Agency as its operating vision for independent agencies using AI. The approach embeds automated agents inside software and workflows agencies already use.

Agency employees still spend substantial time moving information between systems. Other routine work includes document searches, data checking and repetitive service tasks.

Accounting processes add another layer of administrative work. Vertafore wants its AI agents handling more of these activities inside existing agency systems.

The Agentic Agency model covers several workstreams across the agency lifecycle. Digital Producer agents support prospecting, placement and renewals, alongside producer follow-up work.

Smart Submissions agents prepare carrier-ready submissions and compare insurance quotes. They also assemble proposals and verify policies after issuance.

Agentic Servicer agents handle common service requests and certificates. Their remit also covers endorsements, cancellations and renewal preparation.

Accounting Automation agents manage direct bill and agency bill workflows. Bank reconciliation and contingency management also sit within this group.

Vertafore places AI Enablers beneath these workflows to improve software usability and data quality. Business Intelligence agents analyse agency books, pipelines and performance information for commercial insights.

James Thom, chief AI officer at Vertafore, said Distribution Velocity focuses on reducing operational friction across entire agency workflows rather than accelerating isolated tasks.

Under the Agentic Agency model, technology manages work across connected processes and supplies information requiring employee attention. Agency professionals retain more time for customer relationships and business development.

Vertafore also introduced four specific Velocity AI agents, now reaching early adopter customers. The company plans general availability during 2026.

The Velocity Document Intelligence Agent automates document research inside Vertafore’s ImageRight document and workflow management software.

ImageRight serves insurance agencies, MGAs and carriers. The agent searches available documents, identifies relevant information and assembles results without requiring users to review files individually.

Vertafore reports document review time reductions of up to 90% during early adopter testing. General availability is scheduled for September 2026.

The Velocity Coach Agent provides product and procedural guidance inside Vertafore’s AMS360 and Sagitta agency management systems. It draws information from product documentation, agency materials and standard operating procedures. Users receive answers inside their existing work environment instead of searching separate resources.

According to Vertafore, early users spent up to 88% less time finding information. The company expects general availability in early fall.

The Velocity Policy Intake Agent focuses on commercial insurance policy processing. It extracts information from source documents and converts those details into structured policy data.

The agent maps extracted information directly into the agency management system. It also updates AMS records and files supporting documents.

An audit-ready activity record documents the processing work. Vertafore reports policy intake times up to 87% faster during current deployments.

The fourth product, Velocity Policy Check Agent, reviews issued policy documents for discrepancies. It compares policy documents with AMS information and supporting materials. When differences appear, the agent recommends corrective actions for agency employees.

Users decide which corrections receive approval. The agent then completes the related follow-up work according to those decisions.

Vertafore built all four agents on its Velocity AI Platform. The company expects the products to extend automation deeper into agency workflows without replacing existing management systems.

The broader Agentic Agency model also covers sales and submission workflows. Servicing, accounting and business intelligence sit within the same operating framework. Vertafore also previewed two additional agents planned for its Smart Submissions offering.

The upcoming Velocity Data Collection Agent will identify and structure information contained in incoming documents. It will also identify missing submission information before files move further through the placement process.

A separate Velocity Carrier Routing Agent will provide guidance on potential insurance markets. Its recommendations will use carrier appetite, agency activity and agency strategy.

Vertafore expects both products to enter early adopter programmes during winter 2026.

CEO Amy Zupon said independent agencies continue creating value through professional judgement and customer relationships. Vertafore’s AI strategy shifts repetitive operational work toward software agents while keeping employees responsible for decisions requiring insurance expertise.

“Independent agencies have always created value through their expertise, judgment and trusted relationships,” said Vertafore CEO Amy Zupon. “Those strengths have become even more important in the AI era. The Agentic Agency is about using AI to take on more of the manual and repetitive work, surface the information and decisions that need attention, and give agency professionals more time to apply their expertise where it matters most.”

The company is positioning the Agentic Agency around capacity rather than standalone automation. Its four new agents target tasks already embedded inside daily agency operations, where document review and policy administration consume staff time.

Vertafore develops insurance distribution technology for agencies and other participants across the insurance value chain. Its Velocity AI products extend AI functionality into established Vertafore systems rather than introducing separate applications for each workflow.
