Mission Underwriters backs launch of Lumara Insurance in the UK

Mission Underwriters, a managing general agent incubator with 29 MGAs and over 80 product lines, said it’s backing the launch of Lumara Insurance in the United Kingdom.

The new MGA will target U.K. brokers with combined business insurance and motor trade products.

Mission said Lumara’s model wraps multiple risk types into one streamlined policy, aiming to make coverage management less fragmented for brokers.

At the helm are two Covéa veterans: David Aslin and Mark Greig. Aslin, who led Covéa’s mid-market division, steps in as managing director, while Greig, formerly underwriting manager for southern England, joins him in building the new MGA’s underwriting strategy.

Mission CEO Ross Dingwall said Lumara Insurance represents the company’s eighth launch in the U.K. He added that Mission plans to roll out several new MGAs through late 2025 and into 2026, reflecting continued expansion across the region.

The incubator, which builds and scales managing general agents for specialist underwriters across the U.K., U.S., and Europe, has been steadily growing.

Last year, Mission unveiled Carrow Insurance as its 25th MGA, focused on warranty, accident and health, and income protection products across European markets.

Dingwall said Lumara fits the firm’s model of supporting underwriters with niche expertise and entrepreneurial drive. For Mission, it’s another step in building a distributed network of MGAs that operate fast, stay flexible, and push specialty underwriting where it’s most needed.
