Relation Insurance Services, a US insurance brokerage providing risk management and employee benefits consulting, has acquired the assets of Pennsylvania-based LaPlaca Insurance Inc. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The acquisition became effective June 30, 2026, expanding Relation’s presence across the greater Philadelphia area and neighbouring insurance markets.
LaPlaca operates from Chalfont, Pennsylvania, and serves clients across Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey, along with several other states.
Founded in 1988, LaPlaca provides business insurance, employee benefits and personal lines coverage. The agency was established by the father of current Vice President Anne La Placa and has remained focused on long-term client relationships across its regional markets.
Anne La Placa said the agency sought a partner with a similar approach to service and client relationships while providing greater resources and additional insurance capabilities. She said joining Relation gives the team access to a broader platform without changing the priorities on which the family agency was built.
LaPlaca’s employees bring about 140 years of combined insurance experience, according to Relation. The agency also maintains client retention rates in the high 90% range, a figure Relation CEO Tim Hall cited when discussing the rationale behind the acquisition.
Hall said LaPlaca’s experience and client retention made the agency a strong fit for Relation. He added that the acquisition brings Anne La Placa and her team into a national brokerage with a wider carrier network and additional insurance resources.
The transaction adds another regional brokerage to Relation’s acquisition programme. The company has continued buying independent agencies across the US as it expands geographic coverage and adds specialist capabilities in commercial insurance, employee benefits and personal lines.
Relation has completed several agency acquisitions during 2026, including Crop Rx Insurance Services in California and Mid-State Insurance in Wisconsin. Earlier deals also added agencies specialising in agriculture, employee benefits and broader commercial insurance.
The company uses acquisitions to extend its local distribution network while keeping existing management teams and client relationships in place. Relation also offers equity ownership opportunities to insurance entrepreneurs joining the group.
LaPlaca’s location gives Relation a larger presence in the Philadelphia metropolitan area while adding business across nearby New York and New Jersey markets. Its mix of commercial coverage, benefits and personal insurance also overlaps with several of Relation’s existing national practices.
Relation Insurance Services ranks among the 25 largest US insurance agencies by revenue, according to Insurance Journal. The brokerage has about 1,350 employees across more than 90 locations nationwide.
Relation provides commercial property and casualty insurance, employee benefits and personal lines alongside specialist insurance services. Its broader business also includes private client services and other risk-management products for companies and individuals.
The LaPlaca acquisition continues Relation’s strategy of combining regional agencies with its national insurance platform. The company said the approach gives acquired firms access to broader carrier relationships and specialist resources while retaining the client relationships developed within their local markets.
