Square Insurance Brokers has appointed Kapil Baraya as Head of Department, Corporate & Commercial Lines. He will lead the company’s corporate and commercial insurance business while also overseeing its life insurance operations.
Baraya will be responsible for client relationships and business development across corporate and commercial lines. His remit also includes team development as Square Insurance expands its presence in these segments.
Akash Parwal, CEO and Co-Founder of Square Insurance Brokers, said the appointment supports the company’s effort to add specialist expertise as it expands its corporate insurance practice. The firm is also broadening its wider insurance portfolio.
Baraya joins Square Insurance with more than 18 years of industry experience. His background includes corporate risk management, liability insurance and complex insurance programmes, along with trade credit and cyber coverage.
He previously served as Executive Vice President at Marsh India Insurance Brokers. In that role, he managed large corporate insurance mandates across sectors including pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and BFSI.
Baraya has also held senior roles at Bharti AXA, TATA AIG and ICICI Lombard. His experience spans underwriting, client servicing and insurance programme development.
Rakesh Kumar, Managing Director and Founder of Square Insurance, said Baraya’s corporate insurance and risk advisory experience will support the firm’s corporate and commercial offerings. He added that the appointment will also support Square Insurance’s life insurance business.
Baraya said companies are dealing with increasingly complex risk requirements, increasing demand for tailored insurance and risk management solutions. He said he plans to contribute to Square Insurance’s development across both general and life insurance.
