David Pilla – AM Best’s News editor/reporter, marketing and communications specialist
David Pilla has built a long career at the intersection of journalism, market intelligence, and communications. Based in Somerville, New Jersey, he is widely known for his editorial and reporting expertise in insurance, financial services, and global markets.
His current role as News Editor at AM Best, which he has held since late 2014, focuses on U.S. and international insurance developments across life, health, property/casualty, and reinsurance, as well as ILS, captives, alternative risk finance, and regulation.
Before that, he spent a year as Senior Business Analyst at AM Best, researching global industry trends and collaborating with financial analysts, business development, and PR teams. From 1999 to 2013, he served as international editor and market intelligence manager, running publications such as BestWeek Europe and BestWeek Asia/Pacific, while managing news teams in London and Hong Kong.
Earlier in his career, Pilla edited medical newsletters for Pyros Education Group and Wedgewood Communications, worked as a managing editor at Forbes Newspapers/Packet Publications in New Jersey, and freelanced as a writer for AT&T’s telecom news service during the 1990s.
