Insurtech ERGO NEXT launches AI property inspections for small business insurance
  • ERGO NEXT has introduced an AI-powered self-service inspection tool, reducing the commercial property insurance inspection process from a typical five to 10-day wait to approximately 15 minutes.
  • The technology uses vision AI to guide business owners through inspections in real time, supporting faster access to tailored commercial property coverage.
  • The launch is the first jointly sponsored product development by ERGO NEXT and Munich Re’s ERGO Group since the latter acquired NEXT Insurance in 2025.

ERGO NEXT Insurance has launched an artificial intelligence-powered property inspection tool that allows small business owners to complete commercial property insurance inspections in approximately 15 minutes, replacing a process that traditionally involves waiting days for an on-site inspection.

The digital-first insurer said its new self-service technology uses vision AI to provide real-time guidance, enabling business owners to conduct and submit property inspections independently as part of the insurance purchasing process.

Commercial property inspections typically require businesses to wait five to 10 days for a field inspector to visit their premises. ERGO NEXT’s system allows customers to complete the process on their own schedule, reducing the time needed to obtain coverage.

“Small business owners already have enough priorities competing for their time,” said Effi Fuks-Leichtag, Chief Product Officer at ERGO NEXT.

Getting the right insurance shouldn’t require them to put their day or week on hold waiting for an inspection. ERGO NEXT is the first small business insurer to offer this AI-native, self-guided inspection model as part of a fully-digital purchase experience. It’s a key step toward our ultimate goal of making insurance easier to understand, accessible, and affordable for small businesses.

The insurer expects the technology to reduce inspection-related administrative work and improve operational efficiency while expanding access to commercial property insurance.

The launch forms part of ERGO NEXT’s investment in AI-based insurance services designed to simplify applications and purchasing for small businesses.

It is also the first feature jointly developed and sponsored by ERGO NEXT and ERGO Group since the latter acquired NEXT Insurance in 2025.

ERGO Group, Munich Re’s primary insurance subsidiary, is combining its underwriting expertise and international scale with ERGO NEXT’s digital distribution and technology capabilities.

The AI property inspection tool is currently available to small businesses purchasing commercial property insurance directly through ERGO NEXT.

Founded in 2016 by Guy Goldstein, Alon Huri and Nissim Tapiro, NEXT Insurance developed a digital insurance platform focused on small businesses. Following its acquisition by ERGO Group, the company rebranded as ERGO NEXT Insurance.

The insurer serves more than 750,000 US small businesses across over 1,300 professions, offering general liability, business owners policies (BOP), workers’ compensation, professional liability and other commercial insurance products.

ERGO NEXT also reports an A+ (Superior) financial strength rating from AM Best following its acquisition by ERGO Group.
