Oscar Health has launched Lucie Health Marketplace, an integrated insurance shopping platform designed to give consumers, employers and brokers access to individual health plans and supplemental insurance products through a single digital storefront.

The new marketplace connects users with major insurers operating in the individual health insurance market, alongside selected providers of ancillary and supplemental coverage, including Aflac.

Oscar Health is positioning Lucie as an alternative to traditional employer-sponsored insurance arrangements, offering consumers greater control over their coverage and associated costs.

The platform targets entrepreneurs, full-time and part-time employees, gig workers and early retirees, groups that may benefit from more flexible health insurance options.

“Employer healthcare looks good on paper but fails the moment medical bills hit,” said Mark Bertolini, CEO of Oscar Health.

Lucie is the first step to fixing that. Instead of being forced into a few rigid employer plans, you build your own custom bundle of affordable products for better financial protection. Your health plan. Your pharmacy coverage. Your dental plan. Our AI-powered solutions will make it easier for everyone to shop with confidence.

Mark Bertolini, CEO of Oscar Health

Lucie brings together medical, dental, vision, accident and hospital insurance products, allowing consumers to compare coverage options and prices before assembling packages tailored to their individual requirements.

According to Oscar, the marketplace includes individual insurance networks across almost all U.S. ZIP codes. The company says the thousands of available networks collectively provide the broadest coverage network in the individual market, with pricing it considers more competitive than traditional employer-sponsored plans.

Employers can also use the platform to manage employee healthcare benefits through a defined-contribution model. Businesses establish their benefits budgets and allocate funds to tax-free employee wallets, allowing workers to select insurance products according to their personal needs.

Oscar says the arrangement could help employers control healthcare spending and reduce their dependence on multiple benefits administration systems, while giving employees more flexibility in choosing coverage.

The company also aims to simplify insurance distribution for brokers. Lucie supports quoting, enrollment and policy renewals across participating insurers through one interface, enabling brokers to enroll clients within minutes.

Oscar cited survey findings indicating that 94% of U.S. workers want more insurance choices and that 93% of consumers who switched to the individual insurance market were satisfied with the change. The company presented these figures as evidence of demand for more personalized healthcare benefits.

Artificial intelligence is expected to support the shopping experience, helping users identify products that meet their coverage requirements and financial circumstances.

Bertolini compared the company’s intended approach to the convenience consumers already experience when purchasing other products and services online.

“When shopping for healthcare becomes as easy as booking a hotel, we can eliminate decades of inefficiency. If you want a value medical plan with extra hospital coverage, you choose that. If you want robust coverage for a health condition, you bundle multiple services in one plan. We are putting consumers in control so they can buy what fits their lives. Lucie will make healthcare work like every modern market.”
