NYSE expands tokenized securities platform with four new partners

The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has expanded its tokenized securities initiative through agreements with Broadridge Financial Solutions, Computershare, Equiniti and Superstate, adding four partners to support a planned NYSE-affiliated digital trading venue.

The companies join previously announced partners Securitize and tZERO in developing infrastructure for Issuer Sponsored Tokenized Securities (ISTs), which would allow companies to issue and maintain shares using blockchain technology.

  • The New York Stock Exchange has signed agreements with four additional firms to support issuer-sponsored tokenized securities, joining existing partners Securitize and tZERO.
  • The planned platform will support 24/7 trading, instant settlement, dollar-denominated orders and stablecoin-based funding using blockchain infrastructure.
  • The initiative combines digital asset specialists with established transfer agents serving nearly 5,000 publicly listed companies, including almost 99% of the S&P 500.

The six partners combine established financial market infrastructure with blockchain-native technology. Computershare, Equiniti and Broadridge provide transfer agency services, issuer relationships and operational infrastructure, collectively serving close to 5,000 publicly listed companies, including nearly 99% of S&P 500 constituents.

Securitize, Superstate and tZERO contribute expertise in digital asset infrastructure, blockchain-based recordkeeping and tokenized securities.

This announcement continues the NYSE’s long history of reimagining market infrastructure through thoughtful and deliberate innovation.

Lynn Martin, president of NYSE Group

“Our priority remains protecting and upholding market integrity through every technological advancement, and we are thrilled to partner with like-minded organizations as we shape the future of finance,” said Lynn Martin.

NYSE tokenized securities platform to support 24/7 trading

The planned digital platform will introduce trading capabilities that differ from conventional stock market infrastructure, including continuous 24/7 operations, instant settlement, orders denominated in dollar amounts and stablecoin-based funding.

Its architecture combines the NYSE’s Pillar matching engine with blockchain-based post-trade infrastructure designed to support settlement and custody across multiple blockchain networks.

Subject to regulatory approval, the system will operate as a new NYSE-affiliated venue for tokenized securities.

The venue is designed to accommodate both third-party custodial tokens and issuer-sponsored tokenized securities.

Both categories would be fungible with traditionally issued securities, allowing holders of tokenized shares to receive the same dividend entitlements and corporate governance rights as conventional shareholders.

The trading venue will follow established market structure principles, including non-discriminatory access for participating broker-dealers.

The NYSE, part of Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), is developing the initiative as part of its broader work on blockchain-based trading, settlement, custody and capital formation infrastructure.

Broadridge and transfer agents bring established market infrastructure

Broadridge Financial Solutions will contribute on-chain governance capabilities and integrated digital and traditional transfer agency services.

The company processes more than $360 bn in assets daily and expects its infrastructure to help issuers manage securities across conventional and blockchain-based environments.

Broadridge’s horizontal governance layer and integrated digital and traditional transfer agency services simplifies complexity for issuers irrespective of where their shares are tokenized and held.

Computershare, which describes itself as the first transfer agent to offer Issuer-Sponsored Tokens, will bring its shareholder servicing and securities administration capabilities to the initiative.

Ann Bowering, CEO of Issuer Services, North America, at Computershare, said tokenization should preserve existing market protections while introducing additional options for issuers and investors.

“The evolution of capital markets depends on combining innovation with the trust, resilience and investor protections that issuers and shareholders expect,” Bowering said.

As the first transfer agent to offer Issuer-Sponsored Tokens, we are pleased to be working with the NYSE on this initiative and believe ISTs have the potential to expand choice while maintaining the high standards of governance, transparency and shareholder servicing that underpin modern markets.

Equiniti will also contribute its transfer agency experience, relationships with corporate issuers and operational capabilities.

“Tokenization has the potential to modernize how securities are issued, held and transferred, while preserving the protections and rights that issuers and shareholders rely on today,” said Dan Kramer, CEO of Equiniti. “We’re proud to work with the NYSE to bring Equiniti’s transfer agent expertise, issuer relationships and operational scale to this next generation of market infrastructure.”

Securitize, Superstate and tZERO support blockchain integration

The three blockchain-focused partners will provide digital asset expertise and infrastructure for the issuance, administration and transfer of tokenized securities.

Securitize was previously selected as the NYSE’s first digital transfer agent and a principal design partner for the project.

“Bringing capital markets onchain requires collaboration across the financial industry,” said Carlos Domingo, chairman and CEO of Securitize.

We were proud to be selected as NYSE’s first digital transfer agent and a premier design partner in developing the infrastructure for tokenized securities. Expanding the ecosystem is an important step toward making tokenized securities a core part of how capital markets operate.

Superstate will contribute its experience in blockchain-based securities infrastructure and transfer agency services.

tZERO, which operates in regulated digital asset infrastructure, will support the development of systems for tokenized securities issuance, ownership and transfers.

The NYSE’s approach to tokenized securities represents an important step toward bringing blockchain-based infrastructure into mainstream financial markets.

Alan Konevsky, CEO of tZERO

“As a pioneer in tokenization and regulated digital asset infrastructure, tZERO brings deep experience in supporting the issuance, ownership and transfer of tokenized securities – including the digital transfer agent regulated layer and proprietary technology,” said Alan Konevsky, CEO of tZERO.

NYSE digital securities trading venue awaits regulatory approval

The proposed venue remains subject to regulatory approval, and the NYSE has not announced a launch date. Its planned structure would allow tokenized securities to trade through an exchange-affiliated platform while retaining the shareholder rights associated with traditional securities.

The involvement of established transfer agents is intended to connect blockchain-based ownership records with existing issuer administration, shareholder servicing and governance processes.

For participating companies, this would provide a framework for issuing and managing tokenized securities without separating them from conventional shareholder rights.

The NYSE’s expanded group of partners will support the development of trading and post-trade infrastructure covering securities issuance, ownership records, settlement and custody across blockchain networks.
