Root embeds auto insurance quoting into Kikoff personal finance platform

Root Insurance, the technology-driven auto carrier and subsidiary of Root, Inc., has partnered with Kikoff to integrate Root’s car insurance quoting and purchase flow directly into the Kikoff app.

Through the integration, Kikoff users can now receive instant, personalised auto insurance quotes from Root without leaving the platform.

The experience runs end to end, from quote to purchase, using Root’s data-driven pricing models and a mobile-first interface designed for simplicity rather than comparison overload.

Root’s pricing technology tailors quotes to individual driving profiles, allowing Kikoff users to see costs and potential savings before committing.

The partners said the goal is to make insurance easier to understand and easier to buy, especially for consumers already focused on improving their financial footing.

Jason Shapiro, senior vice president of business development at Root, said the partnership aims to help Kikoff members reduce a recurring expense that often weighs on household budgets.

He said Kikoff’s focus on clear, fair pathways to financial progress fits closely with Root’s approach to pricing and distribution built around modern data models.

Kikoff’s mission to provide fair, simple pathways to help customers reach their financial goals aligns closely with Root’s commitment to offering affordable insurance through modern, data-driven models. We saw this collaboration as a perfect fit.

The integration expands Kikoff’s insurance capabilities beyond basic rate discovery. Members can select coverage options, adjust limits, and complete purchases within the app, using dynamic pricing rather than static comparisons.

The companies said the design supports more confident decision-making and, in many cases, lower premiums.

Cynthia Chen, chief executive officer and founder of Kikoff, said the partnership advances Kikoff’s effort to widen access to affordable financial products for users working to build or repair credit. She said Root’s pricing approach should resonate with safe drivers on the platform who value transparency and cost control.

This partnership is another powerful step in our commitment to helping people achieve greater financial security by expanding access to more affordable financial opportunities, and we’re confident Root’s unique pricing model will be of significant benefit to safe drivers using our platform.

Once enrolled, Kikoff users manage their entire insurance lifecycle digitally. Quotes, policy changes, and claims all run through a mobile interface, removing the need for separate portals or phone-based service.

Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Root uses driving data and analytics to price auto insurance at an individual level.

The Root app has logged nearly 17 mn downloads and collected more than 34 bn miles of driving data to support underwriting and pricing decisions.

Kikoff positions itself as a personal finance platform built around access and affordability. The company uses technology and AI to help users build credit, manage debt, save, and access liquidity.

To date, more than four million users have increased their credit scores by a combined 240 mn points, according to the company.
