Starfish Space raises $100 mn+ to scale in-orbit servicing missions

Starfish Space has raised more than $100 mn in a Series B round led by Point72 Ventures. Activate Capital and Shield Capital co-led the deal, with Industrious Ventures and NightDragon also participating.

Existing investors including NFX, Munich Re Ventures, Toyota Ventures and PSL Ventures returned, alongside new backers Nomi Capital, Gaingels and Overlap Holdings.

The round follows a period of steady technical and commercial progress. Starfish has secured Otter mission contracts with the US Space Force, the Space Development Agency, NASA and SES, among others.

The company has already completed three demonstration missions in orbit. These include the Remora mission in 2025 and the ongoing Otter Pup 2 mission. Starfish expects to launch its first full Otter missions later this year.

Co-founder Austin Link said the funding reflects momentum across both technology and customer demand. He pointed to contracted missions, completed demonstrations and the upcoming operational launch as signals the company is moving into a new phase.

We have Otter missions under contract, successful demos, and our first operational mission launching this year. We’re ready to help organizations get the most out of their on-orbit infrastructure.

Point72 Ventures partner Chris Morales said Starfish has shown consistent progress toward practical in-orbit servicing. He said early traction with defence and commercial customers, combined with successful autonomous missions, indicates growing relevance for space operations and national security.

Existing investors increased their participation in the round, pointing to confidence in the company’s execution and the expanding market for satellite servicing.

Starfish plans to use the funding to execute contracted Otter missions, scale the business line and expand its team.

The company, based in Tukwila, Washington, develops satellite servicing missions using its Otter vehicle. The platform supports life extension for geostationary satellites and disposal missions in low Earth orbit.

Founded in 2019, Starfish has raised more than $150 mn in total funding and built a team with experience in satellite guidance, navigation, control and autonomous robotics. It continues to focus on delivering servicing missions for government and commercial customers.
