  • USAA Group will reduce Florida auto insurance rates by an average of 7%, affecting more than 498,000 policies, with decreases ranging from 0.4% to 11.2%.
  • USAA delivered nearly $1 bn in rate reductions and direct member returns between December 2025 and July 2026, including a $500 mn dividend to approximately 830,000 members.
  • Florida’s five largest auto insurers, representing 81% of the market, reported a combined indicated rate change of -12.6% for 2026, while the state’s auto liability loss ratio fell to 52.5% in 2025.

Florida insurance regulators have approved a series of auto insurance rate reductions for USAA Group, lowering premiums by an average of 7% across more than 498,000 policies statewide.

Florida Insurance Commissioner Mike Yaworsky approved the reductions across several USAA auto insurance programs, according to the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR). Individual rate changes range from a 0.4% decrease to an 11.2% reduction, depending on the insurance program.

The largest concentrations of USAA policyholders in Florida are in Brevard, Escambia and Okaloosa counties. Average rate reductions in those markets will reach 5.8%, 8% and 8.4%, respectively.

The Office of Insurance Regulation is constantly reaching out to insurers to inquire about rate relief, and USAA is always stepping up to the plate and looking out for their consumers,.

He also encouraged other insurance companies operating in Florida to consider further premium reductions.

USAA delivers nearly $1 bn in savings to Florida members

The newly approved rate cuts follow several earlier measures introduced by USAA to reduce costs for Florida policyholders.

Between December 2025 and July 2026, the insurer provided nearly $1 bn through rate reductions and direct financial returns to members in the state, according to regulators.

That amount included a $500 mn dividend distributed to approximately 830,000 USAA members.

Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia described the latest reductions as further evidence of improving conditions in the state’s insurance market, attributing the progress to Florida’s tort reforms.

“These auto insurance rate decreases will help Florida families keep more of their hard-earned money in their pockets, especially our military families,” Ingoglia said.

Florida’s largest auto insurers indicate 12.6% rate reduction

The USAA reductions come as Florida’s largest auto insurance groups report lower indicated rates for 2026.

According to the OIR, the state’s five largest auto insurance groups have a combined indicated rate change of -12.6% for the year. Together, these insurers account for approximately 81% of Florida’s auto insurance market.

Regulators also reported an improvement in underwriting loss experience for personal auto liability insurance.

Florida recorded a personal auto liability loss ratio of 52.5% in 2025, the lowest among all US states and its lowest level in 15 years.

The loss ratio measures claims losses relative to earned premiums, making it a key indicator of insurers’ claims experience.

The figures provide additional context for the premium reductions approved for USAA and the broader rate decreases indicated by Florida’s largest auto insurers.
