Ant Insurance, the online insurance brokerage of Ant Group, has reported strong growth in health insurance claims processed through its platform.

The company works with partner insurers to improve access and efficiency in the sector using advanced digital tools. Rising demand for healthcare in China has expanded the insurance market.

By 2035, more than 30% of the population—over 400mn people—will be 60 or older, according to the National Health Commission.

This demographic shift is increasing reliance on commercial health insurance to supplement the basic medical system, driving innovation in claims processing and service delivery.

Ant Group applies advanced technology to accelerate digital changes in healthcare, with insurance playing a central role. AI-powered solutions improve efficiency at every stage, from product selection to claims processing.

In 2024, Ant Insurance’s AI-driven EasyClaims system supported 85 health insurance products from 11 partner insurers, processing 7.25mn health claims—a 55% increase year-over-year.

Total health claim payouts on the platform reached RMB 9.2bn ($1.3bn). AI automation handled 96% of the 1.62mn claims analysis requests, cutting processing times and boosting efficiency.

Beyond claims management, Ant Insurance provides AI-driven tools such as GoldenChoice, which uses the Ant Insurance Multi-factor Model (AIMM) to compare and recommend insurance products. EasyPick offers personalized insurance planning, helping users choose suitable coverage without overspending.

To strengthen its technological capabilities, Ant Insurance launched Ant Bridge in September 2024.

This open platform integrates AI models and financial intelligence, allowing insurers to provide real-time, personalized responses to customer inquiries, improving service quality and operational efficiency.

Ant Group has also contributed to China’s broader healthcare digitalization efforts. Since launching the country’s first online hospital appointment booking service in 2014, its Alipay platform has supported the digital transformation of hospitals. As of January 2025, Alipay connects over 800mn users with services from more than 3,600 hospitals.

In September 2024, Ant Group introduced the AI Healthcare Manager within Alipay. This tool provides voice and text-based assistance for over 30 services, including doctor mapping, medical report interpretation, in-hospital navigation, and personalized medical advice.

These efforts help optimize limited medical resources and expand healthcare access.
