Arsenal Insurance and VUSO pay $2.2 mn for Kyiv business centres damaged by missile strike

Ukrainian insurers Arsenal Insurance and VUSO have completed the settlement of insurance claims related to damage to two business centres belonging to the same network in Kyiv following a missile attack. Total insurance compensation reached approximately $2.2 mn.

Both properties were damaged on May 14, 2026, during a large-scale missile attack on the Ukrainian capital.

Blast waves and debris damaged the buildings’ facades and structural elements, glazing, windows and doors, roofing, utility systems, interior finishes, as well as other movable and immovable property. No people were injured in the incident.

Both business centres were insured against war risks by Arsenal Insurance and VUSO. The insurers shared the risk equally, with each company covering 50%.

Following completion of the claims settlement, each insurer paid approximately $1.1 mn in line with its share of the insured risk.

Including this payment, total insurance compensation paid by Arsenal Insurance and VUSO for damage to properties within the same network caused by attacks on Kyiv in 2025-2026 has reached approximately $5.35 mn.

In 2025, two business centres belonging to the same network were damaged during major aerial attacks on Kyiv in June and July, Forinsurer stated. Both properties were insured against war risks under a co-insurance arrangement between Arsenal Insurance and VUSO.

  • On June 23, blast waves and debris damaged the facade, window structures, glass elements, interior finishes and engineering systems of one business centre.
  • During another large-scale attack on Kyiv on July 10, an explosion damaged the second business centre in the network, destroying the entrance area and affecting office premises and glazing across several floors.

Following an expert assessment, total insurance compensation was approximately $0.44 mn. Arsenal Insurance and VUSO each paid about $0.22 mn under their respective shares of the co-insured risk.

“Each war-risk claim involves significant losses, complex loss assessment, communication between several parties and decisions that need to be made quickly,” Arsenal Insurance said. The company added that it aims to ensure clients receive compensation without delays or unnecessary bureaucracy even under difficult conditions, and thanked VUSO for its cooperation in settling the claims.

Earlier, Arsenal Insurance, UNIQA and TAS paid approximately $0.3 mn for war-related damage to another Kyiv business centre. The building was damaged by debris from a Shahed UAV during a large-scale attack on the city on June 10, 2025.

The incident caused substantial damage to the building’s facade, walls, glazing, internal partitions, ceilings, floors and doors. Ventilation, heating, electricity, lighting and fire suppression systems were also affected, along with the roof, interior finishes, furniture and office equipment.

That property was insured against war risks through a co-insurance arrangement involving Arsenal Insurance, UNIQA and TAS.
